Lyophilization Technology

Lyophilization (freeze-drying) is a technical process used in numerous industries to reduce the moisture level of existing materials to create new products or ingredients.
 
At HemCon, we constructed a patented process for manufacturing our medical products on a proprietary lyophilization platform. The process not only changes the moisture level in our hemostatic HemCon dressings but also provides additional structural changes and surface enhancements that provide efficacy as well as a barrier to infection.
 
In addition to hemostatic products, HemCon is currently working in conjuction with the U.S. Army on a lyophilized plasma product to bring resuscitation fluids to the battlefield and trauma centers.
